16 September 1996. Slytherin Dungeons.

After Theo overhears Blaise gossiping in the dungeons with Draco, he takes a short walk to clear his head. Once he's managed to calm himself, he walks down to the Slytherin dungeons to find Miles.

Miles chooses a seat in the corner of the Slytherin common room to read. It's not the most optimal conditions, but it's better than the library or some other location where he's bound to be bothered by the underclassmen or the mudbloods.

Theo finds Miles easily — one just had to look at the furthest corner of the room — and walks over, sliding onto the arm of Miles' chair. "Hello, Miles."

"Theo." Miles closes his book and lifts his eyes to Theo, waiting for him to explain the interruption.

Theo gives Miles a pleasant smile. "I heard that Blaise is throwing a party."

Miles stares at Theo for a long, quiet moment and then stands. "If you're determined to waste my time, I'm leaving."

"Blaise said that he owes you a favor." Theo's voice is still pleasant but beneath the warmth is steel. He slides off the arm of the chair. "I assume you can understand why I've searched you out."

Miles spares Theo a glance over his shoulder and then walks away. "Shall we continue these pleasantries somewhere more private then?"

"Certainly." Theo nods and follows after Miles.

Miles leads Theo down to the seventh year dorms, pausing to place a hex on the door to ensure their privacy before continuing to his room. He sets his book on the bed, sits, and waits for Theo to continue.

"I only came to say"—Theo saunters closer to Miles, letting his fingers trace the canopy draping Miles' bed—"that I would strongly advise you not to steal favors that could be mine. It's very bad form."

"Stealing favors? Is that what you heard?" Miles' gaze sharpens on Theo, and his mouth slides into a thin smile. " There wasn't any theft."

"You know better than most." Theo keeps his voice carefully modulated. "There's a difference between taking advantage of an opportunity and getting involved in my territory."

Miles nods, dropping his smile as he leans forward. "I'm not encroaching on your territory. As you well know, I'm in the business of winning. This Zabini favor"—Miles shrugs and straightens, smoothing out the wrinkle in his trousers—"is a guaranteed win in the future."

Theo's hand tightens on the canopy, and he drops his pleasantries, facing Miles head on. "I am the business of winning, Miles. You ought to know that before I decide you're more trouble than you're worth."

Miles faces Theo's displeasure with a small, sharp smile. He uncoils from his stiff posture and snags the belt loop of Theo's trousers, using Theo's tense stance as leverage to pull himself to his feet. "As I said, Theo"—Miles lifts his hand and curls it around the back of Theo's neck, his right resting loose at Theo's waist—"I'm in the business of winning." He pulls Theo into a hard kiss.

Theo immediately sinks his teeth into Miles' bottom lip until he can taste blood. "What's this then?" he murmurs against Miles' mouth, good humor restored.

Miles draws away, dabbing at the blood on his lip with the tips of his fingers. "It seems like a challenge." He digs his nails into Theo's nape as he licks away the rest of the blood. "But I'll consider it a mutually beneficial arrangement."

"And how exactly is this beneficial to me?" Theo asks, his tongue darting out to catch a drop of blood beading on Miles' lip.

Miles slides a hand into Theo's hair—"Consider yourself entertained"—and pulls.

Theo laughs against Miles' mouth, tangling his fingers into Miles' hair and yanking as he teases his tongue over the seam of Miles' lips.

Miles jerks Theo back by his hair and crushes their mouths together in a kiss as hard as the first. He captures Theo's bottom lip between his teeth and bites until the skin breaks and releases the first bloody drop. He licks it away with a smirk.

Theo gasps and laughs into Miles' mouth. "Satisfied?"

Miles releases his grip in Theo's hair and tugs down the cuff of his shirt. "For now."

"Of course." Theo raises his hands, digging his fingers against the line of Miles' jaw as he presses against him, stealing another hard kiss and sucking at his upper lip.

Miles returns the kiss with a sharp nip to Theo's bottom lip where the skin is still tender. He eases some of the sting with a sweep of his tongue but then sucks sharply on the skin, worrying it between his teeth again.

Theo makes a breathy, pleased noise and curls a hand around Miles' neck, digging his nails into Miles' nape.

Miles' skin prickles from the sting of Theo's nails, but it only spurs him to bite Theo's lip harder. He curls the fingers of his left hand around Theo's waist and pricks his nails into more skin, dragging Theo closer.

Theo tilts his head, tugging at Miles' collar so he can drag his teeth against Miles' jaw and sink his teeth into the soft spot of skin at the hinge.

Miles expels a breath and jerks Theo back by his hair, exposing the long column of his throat. He latches his teeth around Theo's pulse, licks the hard thrum of it, and then releases him. Miles brushes the imprint of his teeth with the tips of his fingers, making the same motion on his own jaw where he felt the sting of Theo's teeth. "Let's avoid unsightly marks, hm?"

"Why bother being careful about marks when it's but a moment's work to spell them away?" Theo slides his wand from his sleeve and boldly holds Miles' eyes as he presses the tip of his wand to Miles' throat, whispering away the bruise blooming on Miles' skin.

Miles tilts his head and presses the tip of his wand to Theo's mouth. He parts his lips and then smiles. "It gives you character. Now"—Miles steps back, tucking his wand away and smoothing the wrinkles from his clothes—"if our business is concluded?" He holds Theo's gaze as he reaches for his book.

Theo leans forward and swipes his tongue against Miles' bottom lip one last time as he purrs, "Thank you for the entertaining afternoon, Miles." With that, he counters the hex on the door with a flick of his wand and saunters out, healing his own marks on the way.

Miles' lightly touches his bottom lip with the tips of his fingers and spells away the small cut and minor swelling. "Likewise," he says in the empty room and then retrieves his book and returns to the common room to read.
